Situated 5° above the equator, Ghana was the first African country south of the sahara to gain independence. Known as the famous Gold Coast, it became known as Ghana after independence. The name Ghana was recommended by one of the nationalists, Dr JB Danquah, who wanted to rid the new nation of the most far-reaching vestiges of colonialism. According to Danquah the Philosopher, it was also to remind us of our links with the old Ghana empire which famously existed from around the 4th century until about the 11th century..
The new nation (Ghana) was presided by the late Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah who was married to a beautiful Egyptian Fathia Rizk.
Ghana is a very beautiful country boasting of so many resources. As a very proud Ghanaian, I want to share some of these resources with you :)
