About us

As a native of Ghana (West Africa), I have grown up using natural products such as Sheabutter.  The passion I have for using shea butter originates from experiencing its moisturising and healing properties and I believe that it is quite simply a unique natural ingredient in skincare.

Together with cocoa butter and other products, I am offering you the chance to share in this experience.

Most of our products are purchased directly from farmer co-operatives in Ghana and are of the finest quality.  It is what I believe in most.

GHANA - MY BELOVED

Situated 5° above the equator, Ghana was the first African country south of the sahara to gain independence. Known as the famous Gold Coast, it became known as Ghana after independence.
The name Ghana was recommended by one of the nationalists, Dr JB Danquah, who wanted to rid the new nation of the most far-reaching vestiges of colonialism. According to Danquah the Philosopher, it was also to remind us of our links with the old Ghana empire which famously existed from around the 4th century until about the 11th century.. The new nation (Ghana) was presided by the late Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah who was married to a beautiful Egyptian Fathia Rizk.
Ghana is a very beautiful country boasting of so many resources. As a very proud Ghanaian, I want to share some of these resources with you :)

OUR AWARDS:

2011 - AWE

As a small business, we always insist on quality. We never compromise and this has led us to pursue our other passion which is looking after those at the 1st step of the supply chain - THE FARMERS!

We are pursuing this path because I feel it the right way to "put a little back" into their hard-work even if it means a lot of sacrifice including lack of sleep - I will continue to push along this path.

Much love

Akua Wood
